The Anglican Patriarchate, Anglican Rite Roman Catholic Church is an organisation in
special consultative status with the United National Economic and Social Council since 2019.
Guardsmen and women were among the first to help their communities during the COVID-19 Global Pendemic of 2020.
Some are donating supplies,
some deliver food. Others devote their professional expertise to hospitals, crisis centers,
and local and national governments, as well as high-level international policy work.
Some work to help the poor and marginalised people around the world
who have been affected by the pandemic. We encourage others to do their part to help communities in need by
generously donating funds or supplies to local charities or via WG using this link:
The Pontifical Naval Guard is the principal maritime ceremonial unit of the Walsingham Guard. It maintains the naval heritage of the Patriarchate's temporal patrimony. It is a successor to the navies of Imperial Italy and of the Teutonic Order. It constituent units, termed fleets, are known based on their historical heritage as the Imperial Italian Navy, the Royal Etrurian Navy, and the Royal Westphalian Navy. Like the other units of the Walsingham Guard, the mariners of the Naval Guard have a humanitarian mission and ceremonial purpose and participate in other duties as needed.
The insignia of the Naval Guard is a crowned gold foul anchor, a variation of the overall insignia of the Walsingham Guard. The seal consists of the Patriarchal insignia on a crowned silver anchor on a blue background within a rope border.
Membership in the Patriarchal Naval Guard by right of hereditary descent may be granted following the usual standards. Some members of the Walsingham Guard hold appointments in both a regular unit and a naval unit. Typically members in the Naval Guard, whether by hereditary right or by personal application, are qualified mariners with serving experience in a naval or merchant marine unit. As such, the Naval Guard follows nautical customs. Additionally, due to its joining requirements, the combined military, law enforcement, intelligence, and maritime experience of the members is such that, despite primarily serving an humanitarian purpose today, the Florentine Triple Cross in the naval ensign represents one of the most highly trained and skilled organisations in the world.
The standard of a member of the Patriarchal Household flies
above the state ensign of the Walsingham Naval Guard.
