Maritime Officer

Officers qualified in maritime/nautical, engineering and other direct areas of vessel operations.

Officers qualified to serve in any capacity on a vesse other than nautical/maritime, engineering, or vessel operations.

Maritime Crew

Other ranks qualified for maritime service on a vessel.

Obsolete: May be worn by those to whom it was awarded previously.

authorized for wear on the Walsingham Guard Uniforms.

When worn as service ribbons, the following is observed: 

1. No more than three across in general. With regimental dress tunic and the white tropical tunic, four across may be used.
2. When there is more than one row, and one row will have less than three, that short row is worn above the others.
3. For those with more than three service ribbons (or four, for the option of four-ribbon rows as described in No. 1 above, any three or any nine of the individual's preference may be worn, or all are worn. In the case of three or nine, it must include the highest order or decoration held, with the others at the individual's discretion.
4. With the naval blue dress uniform, rows of two or three instead may be used in order to fit around the lapel. The bottom row of ribbons is placed the same level at which the lapels cross, which may be modified slightly as needed for fit.

Decorations of the Guard are worn in the order shown below. Orders are worn according to rank within the order as given in the overall Order of Precedence.

(for outstanding service in humanitarian operations)

MMXX Health Service Medal
(for noteworthy and significant contributions in health or
humanitarian service during the 2020 Global Pandemic.)
Awarded from 2020-2022.

Combat Action Ribbon
(in recognition of military, law enforcement, or security service requiring escalated use of force and resulting in risk of personal injury in line of duty.)

Walsingham Guard Service Medal
(awarded after four years of honourable and loyal service)

Pontifical Citation
(awarded to a unit, an individual, or a team for
outstanding and distinguished performance of duty)

Walsingham Guard Meritorious Commendation
(awarded to a unit, an individual, or a team for exceptional performance of duty)

The Pontifical Citation and the WG Meritorious Commendation are surrounded by a gold frame if the award is made to a unit. However, those receiving the awards individually, even if they also receive them as part of a unit, do not use the frame.

Chaplain's Field Service Ribbon
(in recognition of qualifying field service as a chaplain)

The Pontifical Citation, the WG Meritorious Commendation, and the Chaplain's Field Service Ribbon may be given with an "O" augmentation if the award is made for operations.

Field Service Deployment Ribbon
(in recognition of deployment in qualifying
emergency response action.)

Maritime Service Ribbon
(in recognition of maritime or coastal service related to
qualifying emergency response action.)

Air Service Ribbon
(in recognition of aerial service in qualifying
emergency response action.)

Military Deployment Ribbon
(in recognition of deployment with allied military forces in
qualifying emergency response action.)

Subsequent awards of decorations other than the the Walsingham Guard Service Medal, ribbons denoting time in service, the Pilgrim's Cross, and service stars or other medals/ribbons for a specific action, are denoted by oak leaf clusters. A second award is indicated by a bronze oak leaf. A silver oak leaf indicates a third award, and a gold oak leaf indicates a fourth award.

Walsingham Guard 50-year Service Ribbon
(awarded after 50 cummulative years of
honourable and loyal service.)

Three gold stars may be added to the WG Service Medal when
the full-size or miniature medal is worn.

Walsingham Guard 40-year Service Ribbon
(awarded after 40 cummulative years of
honourable and loyal service.)

Two gold stars may be added to the WG Service Medal when the
full-size or miniature medal is worn.

Walsingham Guard 30-year Service Ribbon
(awarded after 30 cummulative years of
honourable and loyal service.)

A single gold star may be added to the WG Service Medal when
the full-size or miniature medal is worn.

Walsingham Guard 20-year Service Ribbon
(awarded after 20 cummulative years of
honourable and loyal service.)

A single silver star may be added to the WG Service Medal when
the full-size or miniature medal is worn.

Walsingham Guard 10-year Service Ribbon
(awarded after 10 cummulative years of
honourable and loyal service.)

A single bronze star may be added to the WG Service Medal
when the full-size or miniature medal is worn.

Expert Marksmanship Ribbon
(in recognition of qualifying expert rifle or pistol marksmanship under the supervision of an approved instructor on a course of record.)

The Expert Marksmanship Ribbon is worn with the appropriate augmentation(s) of crossed pistols and/or crossed rifles.

Foreign Awards
(decorations awarded by civil nations may be worn on the Walsingham Guard uniform, but are worn after all decorations of the Stato Pontificio Imperiale di Roma-Rutenia and the Walsingham Guard.)
