Guardsman - Corporal - Sergeant

Postnomials: WG
Airbourne Guard of Honour: ABN, WG

Officers:
Lieutenant - Captain
Each unit is generally limited to no more than four Captains and eight Lieutenants.
Captains: Aide-de-Camp to the Commander (no more than 2); Headquarters Company Commander;
Assistant Adjutant
Lieutenants: Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Commander (1); Deputy
Headquarters Company Commander; other offices as needed 

Senior Officers:
(due to the scope and purpose of the Guard, the grades
of Major and Lieutenant Colonel are currently not used.)

Colonel
Each unit is generally limited to no more than two Colonels:
the Deputy Commander and Adjutant.

General Officers:
(due to the scope and purpose of the Guard, the grade
of General is currently not used.)

Major General
The Commander of each unit holds this rank, and
thus each unit is permitted only one.

Lieutenant Field Marshal
Rarely awarded, typically to assistants to the Supreme Pontiff.
It is also the usual rank for Commanders of Divisions in General Command.

Lieutenant General
Rarely awarded, typically to assistants to the Supreme Pontiff.

Captain-General and First Marshal of the Pontifical Imperial State (the Supreme Pontiff ex-officio)

Naval Guardsman - Corporal - Sergeant

Officers:
Lieutenant - Senior Lieutenant
The Naval Guard is generally limited to no more than four Senior Lieutenants and eight Lieutenants.
Senior Lieutenants: Aide-de-Camp to the Commander (no more than 2); Headquarters Company Commander;
Assistant Adjutant
Lieutenants: Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Commander (1); Deputy
Headquarters Company Commander; other offices as needed 

Senior Officers:
(due to the scope and purpose of the Guard, the grades
of Vice Commander and Commander are currently not used.)

Captain
Each unit is generally limited to no more than two Captains:
the Deputy Commander and the Adjutant.

General Officers:
(due to the scope and purpose of the Guard, the grade
of Admiral is currently not used.)

Commodore
The Commander of the Naval Guard holds this rank, and
thus there is only one, excepting those serving in General Command.

Rear Admiral
Rarely awarded, typically to assistants to the Supreme Pontiff.
It is also the usual rank for Commanders of Divisions in General Command.

Vice Admiral
Rarely awarded, typically to assistants to the Supreme Pontiff.

Admiral-General (the Supreme Pontiff ex-officio)


Note: The same insignia as above is also used for the Naval Guard,
with the addition of sleeve lace (with executive curl) for officers as below: 

Lieutenant: One stripe.
Senior Lieutenant: Two stripes.
Captain: Four stripes.
Commodore: 40 mm wide stripe with regular stripe and curl above it.
Rear Admiral: As for a Commodore, with the addition of a second regular stripe below the wide stripe.
Vice Admiral: As for a Commodore, with the addition of a second regular stripe above the wide stripe.
Admiral-General: Identical to a vice admiral, with crowned key and sword insignia above the curl.
