LATIN:
In nomine Domini Dei et Salvatoris nostri Iesu Christi.
Ego N., Dei gratia presbyter, et eadem Dei gratia electus humiliter
Episcopus Sedis Romae-Rutheniae, Princeps Romanorum, Magnus Dux et Rex
Russorum, Supremus Pontificii Imperialis Status, tibi promitto, beate
Petre, Apostolorum Princeps, cui a Creatore et Domino Iesu Christo,
sancta tua Ecclesia invenio; eamque omni studio meo custodire promitto,
nostri Iesu Christi; ceteraque Ecclesiae dogmata, prout in Conciliis
profiteor.
Sancta quoque universalia Concilia, Nicaenum, Constantinopolitanum,
Ephesinum, Chalcedonense primum, et secundum Constantinopolitanum,
celebratum tempore piae memoriae Iustiniani Imperatoris, usque ad
ultimum diem inconcussa custodire promitto; simulque pari honore ac
veneratione sanctum sextum Concilium, a piae memoriae Imperatore
Constantino convocatum, Agathone Apostolico praedecessore meo
reprobaverunt, simili sententia condemno.
Disciplinam et ritum Ecclesiae, sicut a sanctis praedecessoribus meis
Si quid autem contra canonicam disciplinam emerserit, corrigere curabo;
profiteor rationem tibi redditurum, cuius locum divina miseratione
gero, tua vicissim intercessione adiutus.
mihi in illo terribili divini iudicii die propitius sis. Dum haec in
auxilium mihi impendas, quatenus irreprehensibilis ante iudicem omnium
devota conscientia, corporali iuramento obtuli.
✠ Ego N., supra dictus, indignus presbyter, Dei gratia electus
Episcopus huius Orthodoxae et Catholicae Romanae-Ruthenianae Ecclesiae
et Princeps Pontificii Imperialis Status, hanc meam professionem, prout
superius continetur, tibi corporali iuramento feci, beate Petre
Apostolorum Princeps; necnon beato Andreae Primo-vocato, et beato
Stephano Apostolo et Archidiacono, et beato Marco Apostolo et
Evangelistae, mente pura et conscientia devota obtuli.
ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
I, N., by the grace of God
a presbyter, and by that same grace humbly elected Bishop of the See of
Rome-Ruthenia, Prince of the Romans, Grand Duke and King of the
Russians, Sovereign of the Pontifical Imperial State, promise to you,
blessed Peter, Prince of the Apostles, to whom the power of binding and
loosing in heaven and on earth was granted by the Creator and by the
Lord Jesus Christ, Redeemer of all, who said: Whatever you bind on
earth shall be bound also in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth
shall be loosed also in heaven, and in your holy Church, which today I
have undertaken to govern through your office; and to blessed Andrew
the First-Called, and to blessed Stephen the Apostle and Archdeacon,
and to blessed Mark the Apostle and Evangelist, whose authority we
continue.
This integrity of the true faith, which Christ handed down through you
and through your successors and disciples, and which has come even to
my unworthy self, I have found in your holy Church; and I promise to
guard it with all my effort, offering soul and blood, and enduring
difficult times with your assisting grace.
I confess the mystery of the holy and undivided Trinity, which is one
God; and the incarnation according to the flesh of the only-begotten
Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ; and the other doctrines of the
Church, as they have been defined in the universal Councils, approved
by the most holy Pontiffs of the Apostolic See, and handed down in the
writings of the holy Fathers and Doctors of the Church. Likewise, I
profess to preserve all things that pertain to your righteousness and
to the tradition of orthodox faith transmitted through you.
I also promise to preserve unshaken until the last day the holy
universal Councils—of Nicaea, Constantinople, Ephesus, the first of
Chalcedon, and the second of Constantinople, celebrated in the time of
the Emperor Justinian of pious memory—together with, in equal honor and
veneration, the holy sixth Council, convened by the Emperor Constantine
of pious memory with the consent of my predecessor Agatho of the
Apostolic See, for the preservation of the complete and fullest
preaching of the truth; and whatever they condemned, I condemn with
mouth and heart.
I most firmly confirm and promise to observe all the decrees of the
predecessors of the Pontiffs of the Apostolic See, which they
established and approved in synods; to keep them in their perpetual
force as they decreed; and whomever they condemned or rejected by equal
authority, I condemn by the same sentence.
I will inviolably preserve the discipline and rite of the Church as it
has been handed down by my holy predecessors and has come to me
untouched; I will preserve the inviolable goods of the Church; I will
presume neither to diminish, nor to change, nor to introduce any
innovation into the tradition which I found preserved by my venerable
predecessors, but with great fervor, as a true disciple and successor,
I will preserve and venerate it with every effort and work.
If anything should arise contrary to canonical discipline, I will take
care to correct it; I will faithfully observe the sacred Canons and the
statutes of our Pontiffs, keeping the divine and heavenly commandments,
knowing that I must render an account to you for all that I profess,
whose place I hold by divine mercy, aided in turn by your intercession.
If I should presume to do anything contrary to these things or allow it
to be done, may you be merciful to me on that terrible day of divine
judgment. While I strive diligently to observe these things in this
corruptible life, I also beseech you to grant me your help, so that I
may be found blameless before the judge of all mankind, our Lord Jesus
Christ, when He comes to judge terribly concerning what has been
entrusted; that He may place me at His right hand and make me a
companion of your faithful disciples and successors.
This profession, as set forth above, I have signed with my own hand and
have offered to you, blessed Peter, Apostle and Prince of the Apostles,
with a pure mind and a devout conscience, under a corporal oath.
I, N., named above, an unworthy presbyter, by the grace of God elected
Bishop of this Orthodox and Catholic Roman-Ruthenian Church and Prince
of the Pontifical Imperial State, have made this my profession as
contained above, and have sworn it corporally to you, blessed Peter,
Prince of the Apostles; and also to blessed Andrew the First-Called,
and to blessed Stephen the Apostle and Archdeacon, and to blessed Mark
the Apostle and Evangelist, offering it with a clear mind and
conscience.
