Historic civil dignity of the Roman-Ruthenian patrimony

The Senator of Florence is a historic civil dignity preserved within the temporal and cultural patrimony of the Pontifical Imperial State of Rome-Ruthenia. Its name recalls the civic offices and senatorial traditions of Florence and the Italian inheritance associated with the Holy Apostolic See.

Within the present Roman-Ruthenian structure, the dignity has been joined to the office of Prefect-General. It signifies senior service in the temporal government and the preservation of Florentine institutional heritage; it does not purport to be an office of the modern Italian Republic or municipality of Florence.

The rights, duties, and precedence attached to the dignity are governed by the law and decrees of the Holy Apostolic See.
