The Holy Trinity is the Christian confession that the one God eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The three divine Persons are distinct without division and share one divine essence, glory, will, and action.

Biblical and apostolic faith

Christian worship is directed to the Father, through the Son, in the Holy Spirit. The baptismal command of Matthew 28:19 and the apostolic benediction of 2 Corinthians 13:13 express the threefold divine Name that shaped the Church’s prayer and teaching.

Doctrine of the Church

The first two Ecumenical Councils defended the full divinity of the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is not three gods, nor one Person appearing in three forms, but one undivided Godhead in three co-eternal Persons.
