H.M.Em.S.H. Cardinal Archbishop Norman Dutton

The United Roman-Ruthenian Church maintains the legacy of His Most Eminence Serene Highness Norman Cardinal Dutton. He was former Metropolitan in the Anglican Episcopal Church and a Capitular Archbishop and Cardinal of the Patriarchal Chapter within the Pontifical Court). Cardinal Dutton was not only a devoted shepherd of a worldwide flock of Christian souls, preserving true orthodoxy, but he was also an international champion of the cause of Christian chivalry and nobility and its relevance in the modern world. While the Western world at large today seems determined to abandon its roots, its customs and traditions, its heritage, and its faith, Cardinal Dutton was determined to keep those ideals alive and work to promote them for future generations. He realised that it was a sacred trust, and it was a duty that he took very seriously. The Cardinal positively impacted many lives around the world – on every continent except perhaps Antarctica. The worldwide network of knights and nobles he served and in turn inspired them to serve others. This is his true and lasting legacy, for their work will continue in perpetuity.

During his lifetime, Cardinal Dutton was Arch-Cardinal & Apostolic Vicar for the United Kingdom of Christian Missionary Apostolic Communion, which was recognized by the United Roman-Ruthenian Church. Arch-Cardinal is an old combination usage referring to a Cardinal who is alsoan Archbishop.

Also, Cardinal Dutton's ecclesiastical successor is the Anglican Independent Communion Australia (AICA), which he helped establish and of which he served as Metropolitan Archbishop. He is also maintained in perpetuity as the Metropolitan Emeritus of the AICA to honor his legacy.

Cardinal Norman Dutton was also a firm believer that Bishops with Apostolic lines of succession had the Fons Honorum rights to create Ecclesiastical titles of nobility as well as their associated Noble Houses. To this end and by the authority of his office, he appointed and created a number of Ecclesiastical Nobles and Houses. After his death, this spiritual and administrative authorization, with exceptions, was transferred to and continued by Prince-Bishop Rutherford I of the Roman-Ruthenian Church and State, under his own Ecclesiastical and Apostolic Authority, with the Houses and Nobles now becoming a part of the hereditary nobility of the Church.
