Three Levels of Joining

For those discerning the faith and beginning formal preparation.

Baptised Member

For those already baptised in the Name of the Most Holy Trinity.

Confirmed (Full) Member

For those who have received Confirmation or Chrismation from the URRC or another Church in Apostolic Succession.

There are three levels of joining:

Enquirer / Catechumen

Baptised Member (already baptised in the Name of the Most Holy Trinity)
Confirmed (full) Member (received the Sacrament of Confirmation/ Chrismation from the URRC or another Church in Apostolic Succession)

If you feel called to our path, the following is the typical process:

1. Explore the Traditions: Begin by immersing yourself in the histories, doctrines, and practices of Orthodoxy and Old Catholicism in the United Roman-Ruthenian Church. Attend liturgies where available (bearing in mind we are highly geographically dispersed around the world), read relevant literature, and engage with the United Roman-Ruthenian Church to gain a deeper understanding of these rich traditions. This foundational knowledge will be crucial as you discern your spiritual calling.

2. Develop a Contemplative Mindset: The journey towards Orthodoxy and Old Catholicism requires a willingness to embrace contemplation, introspection, and a reverence for the sacred. Cultivate a daily practice of prayer, meditation, and self-reflection, allowing yourself to be guided by the timeless wisdom of these ancient faiths.

3. Seek Spiritual Direction: Connect with a spiritual director or mentor within the United Roman-Ruthenian Church community. These experienced guides can provide invaluable insights, support, and encouragement as you navigate the process of discernment and preparation for membership.

4. Participate in the Community: Immerse yourself in the vibrant life of the United Roman-Ruthenian Church. Despite our being geographically dispersed, you can volunteer in your local community in the service of others. This active involvement will deepen your understanding of the community's ethos and help you discern if this is the right spiritual home for you.

5. Undergo Formal Preparation: Depending on your background and previous religious affiliation, the United Roman-Ruthenian Church may require a period of formal preparation, which may include catechesis, liturgical training, and sacramental rites. (Our catechism is available on Amazon.)
